Route 2 – “Among Heroic Mountains”

This is an amazing route specially planned to satisfy the most demanding of passengers. We will ride in an 7-seat Safari Land Cruiser – the best, most comfortable and most reliable on and off road vehicle on earth. Starting from Syvota and heading east, our first stop will be at Saint Donatos Castle above the village of Paramythia . We will walk along the ancient walls and marvel at the stunning views before going uphill through pine forests into the heart of heroic Souli.

Our tour then takes us south to the enchanting Souli Watermills, where we stop for a walk along the river in the shade of old plane trees and a taste of traditional omelette enjoyed with a glass of “tsipouro”. This is advertised as “The Best omelette in the world” and is prepared by an old lady for us, with best ingredients. The watermills have also been a setting for big filming companies like Warner Bros, that last year did an episode with Epirus Photo Safari for the swedish ‘Bachelor’.

Next stop will be at Souli Wells further up in the heroic mountains. This is the most traditional of all the villages in the area. George will do a guided tour there and tell some stories about the heroes that used to live there. Then we will head to Acheron Springs – Styx river. This whole place is a nature’s wonder. We will enjoy a fantastic walk by the river until we find the springs and fill up our empty bottles with crystal clear water. You can also walk in the river between the straights if you wish so.

After some extreme off-roading, a ‘secret’ secluded tropical beach is our last stop, where we will relax and take a refreshing dip in crystal clear, turquoise waters. This isolated beach will be your own personal slice of heaven and the magical setting will undoubtedly enchant you. To round off the tour we will enjoy a homemade lunch, including “Mousaka”, Greek salad, olives in virgin olive oil and fresh bread, under the tall olive trees, served with local wine . Off-roading back to Syvota will be as amazing as the rest of the route, since we will witness olive trees growing through large rocks, rough coastal terrain and numerous beaches before reaching the end of our adventure.
